A Blue Ridge Mountain LGBTQ+ Elopement in Georgia | The Perrons

Some love stories are wild in the best way—not chaotic, but free. Rooted in choice, in soul, in doing things your way. That’s exactly what this day was for The Perrons.

Originally, they had booked me to photograph a traditional wedding in Jacksonville. But the more we talked, the more I could sense they were craving something different. Something quieter. Deeper. More them. So I gently said… "what if you eloped instead?"

And they lit up.

That one conversation changed everything—and soon, we were off to the dreamy Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia for a queer elopement that felt like a breath of fresh air in every way.

Bringing the Dream Team to the Mountains

Even though we left Florida behind, I made sure they had the same luxe, heart-filled experience they would’ve had back home. That meant bringing along my favorite hair + makeup artist, Alycia of Brosnaich Beauty, to help them feel confident, radiant, and totally themselves.

Because whether it’s a ballroom or a mountain cabin—every wedding deserves to be documented like the celebration it is.

From Cabin Calm to Ceremony Glow

The day started slow and sacred, with both brides getting ready in a cozy cabin tucked among the trees. Alycia worked her magic while laughter floated through the rooms. There were quiet moments, handwritten vows, and nerves wrapped in joy.

Their first look took place just outside—tall trees overhead, fresh mountain air, and the most radiant "Oh my god, you look amazing" moment you could imagine. Then came their intimate ceremony surrounded by forest and love, with vows that cracked everyone’s heart open.

Sunset, Sparkles, and Celebration

After their ceremony, we took a slow, golden-hour walk through the forest. Just the two of them, wrapped in the kind of glow you can’t fake. And then? They popped champagne, ran barefoot, danced in the driveway with the mountains behind them—and made this day completely their own.

Later, they gathered with a small circle of chosen family for a candlelit dinner in the cabin. No timelines. No pressure. Just music, good food, deep conversation, and the kind of love that feels like home.

Elopements Are Still Everything

There’s this idea that elopements are less than. That if you don’t have 100 guests and a dance floor, it’s not “real.” But here’s what I know:

Elopements aren’t about skipping tradition—they’re about choosing intention.

This day had everything a full wedding day does—details, getting ready, first look, portraits, the ceremony, and a reception-style dinner. It just had more space for breath. More room for emotion. More them.

And if you’re queer, introverted, creative, or just a little non-traditional? Eloping might be the most affirming thing you could ever do.

Why I Care So Much About Days Like This

My own wedding was a courthouse moment. No photos. No florals. No big feeling. And while I’m grateful for the love it sealed, I’ll be honest—I don’t feel that connected to the day we said “I do.”

That’s why I care so deeply about helping couples make their elopements meaningful. Because every love story deserves a moment that feels like you.

If you’re dreaming of a mountaintop “I do,” an oceanside vow, or something totally offbeat and wildly you—I’ll help you bring it to life. Travel? Planning? Vendor support? I’ve got you.
